German section of AICA awards HMKV at the 55th Venice Biennial 2013

On May 30, 2013, at 4 pm, HMKV will be awarded the "Exceptional Exhibition 2012" prize by the German section of the International Art Critics' Association (AICA) at Palazzo Rossini in Venice. AICA's Executive Committee awards the prize to the exhibition "Sounds Like Silence" (2012-2013) curated by Inke Arns and Dieter Daniels.

Honorable Mention of HMKV in the context of the ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Kunstvereine 2013

Out of 17 nominations Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) will be awarded this year's ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Kunstvereine. Additionally, the jury awarded an Honorable Mention to Hartware MedienKunstVerein in Dortmund. The Prize ceremony will take place on Monday, April 22nd, 2013, at 4 pm, at Art Cologne.

Now it is official: Our book Sounds Like Silence (Leipzig: Spector Books), designed by Jacob Kirch and Pascal Storz, belongs to the «Most Beautiful Swiss Books of 2012». 454 books were submitted for this prestigious award, 19 were selected. Let's celebrate!

Finally, here it is, and it turns out to be really beautiful: Our book documenting the project INDUSTRIAL on Tour, complete with travel reports, interviews and pictures taken during our trip through five (post-)industrial cities in Poland in late 2011. Make sure to get a copy!

HMKV nominated for ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Kunstvereine 2013

For the fourth time, Hartware MedienKunstVerein (HMKV) is running for the ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Kunstvereine. HMKV had been nominated previously in 2007, 2008 and 2011. With this Prize which will be awarded during this year's Art Cologne Art Fair, ADKV and AT COLOGNE wish to award innovative exhibition practice and engaged mediation.

Unique in Germany: Expanded Cinema Study Collection

In 2004 and 2006 HMKV Dortmund and WKV Stuttgart presented, in two comprehensive exhibitions, central works from the field of Expanded Cinema. Recordings of more than 70 live performances, film environments and multi-channel projections are available for viewing at HMKV and WKV. The comprehensive book accompanying the exhibition Sounds Like Silence (290 pp., 24 x 33 cm) was finally published by Spector Books and costs 25.00 € in the exhibition (retail price in bookshops: 28.00 €).
