Grants of the State of NRW for media artists (f) 2012/2013 awarded

We are happy to announce that the two grants for media artists (f) of the State of North-Rhine-Westphalia 2012 and 2013 were awarded to the Witten-based artist Denise Ritter (2012) and the Cologne-based artists  Verena Seibt & Clea Stracke (2013).

CD "Sounds Like Silence" released by Gruenrekorder

The CD contains the recording of the radio programme Sounds Like Silence by Inke Arns and Dieter Daniels, which was broadcast on 24 August 2012 on Deutschlandradio Kultur. Silence is announced, performed, broadcast, recorded, and recycled, and inscribes itself in media and bodies. Sounds Like Silence kicked off with an extensive programme of events

The exhibition Sounds Like Silence opened on Friday, August 24, 2012 and kicked off with an extensive programme of events which continued until August 29, 2012, the 60th anniversary of the premiere of 4'33'' in 1952. It will continue with films and performances until January 6, 2012.

Libération and Le Monde report about HMKV

On July 4, 2012 the French daily newspaper Libération published an two-page spread with the headline "Les arcanes de l'age digital" (Die Geheimnisse des digitalen Zeitalters) about the exhibitions by Suzy Treister and Francis Hunger; on July 5, the French daily newspaper Le Monde joined in with a splendidly illustrated article.

New publication: Francis Hunger: History has left the Building

Fresh from the printing press: The catalogue accompanying Francis Hunger's solo show History has left the Building at HMKV, including a visual essay by Till Gathmann and Francis Hunger, a theoretical essay by wissenschaftlichen Inke Arns, excerpt from the artist's working materials, comprehensive work descriptions by Fabian Saavedra-Laraas well as a photo documentation of the exhibition at the HMKV (Spector Books, Leipzig 2012, 15 €).

Over 500 guests joined us for the opening of the exhibitions by Suzanne Treister (HEXEN 2.0), Francis Hunger (History has left the Building) and Artur Zmijewski (Democracies) on Friday, 20 April 2012. They will be on view until 22 July 2012.
