From Beyond documents a live concert in a Chicago church. Lucas Ajemian, along with his brother Jason, transcribed the song Into the Void (1971) by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath and arranged for it to be played backwards by a ten-piece classical
orchestra.
The point of departure for this project is the censure that has been frequently expressed toward heavy metal: a concerned public has presumed that the music contains hidden, backward-encoded messages of occult and satanic nature, which might directly affect the
human subconscious.
