The art historian and former park ranger Emily Eliza Scott takes visitors on two expeditions through the exhibition, exploring the various locations and topics of World of Matter in the specific context of the Ruhr.
The last INDUSTRIAL Matinée will be the occasion to dive into some of the documents on the table of INDUSTRIAL (Research) but, also, to share a few new discoveries, presented by Thibaut de Ruyter, one of the two curators of the exhibition.
From Industry to Industrial presents a series of historic and contemporary promotional, documentary and experimental films and videos on industry. Among the subjects it addresses are oil, coal and steel as historic drivers of modernisation, the relationships between men and machines, the capitalisation of cities and the artists’ take on the rise and fall of western industrial societies.

The four-day NEW INDUSTRIES CONFERENCE examines the global financial crisis, the consequences of de-industrialisation, and the emergence of new forms of industry. A science slam on ‘New Industries’ will round off the programme.

A meeting of Utopists will be held at Quartierscafé U-Jack on 8 December 2013. All inhabitants of Dortmund are invited to attend and develop utopias together, exchange ideas with other utopists or simply have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
