Activism in the Name of Art?!

Dortmunder U | Level 3

Ever since organized civil society subjected itself to marketing strategies and the market logic of the social impact measure, art spaces have become the last refuge for political activists. Or is it the other way around: Are activists abusing the freedom of the arts as the burning barricades in the struggle against the ethics of responsibility? No one intends to discuss what art should, may, and can do, but we can at least try to explore the differences between actionism and activism today.

In addition, Paul von Ribbeck will talk about the actions of the Peng! Kollektiv—and if we want to, we can think up a few subversive actions of our own that we could carry out in Dortmund. Theoretically.

Admission to the workshop is free. As the number of participants is limited, please register at info@hmkv.de.

A Workshop in the framework of HMKV’s exhibition Whistleblowers & Vigilantes. Figures of Digital Resistance.
