Discussion | Sahej Rahal & Suzanne Treister

Online

In our online discussion on Zoom (language: English), artists Suzanne Treister & Sahej Rahal get into an exciting conversation. The panel is moderated by Dr. Inke Arns, curator of the exhibition and director of the HMKV.

In the exhibition Technoshamanism Suzanne Treister presents her new series "Technoshamanic Systems: New Cosmological Models" (2020-21). On 50 watercolors, drawings, and prints diverse, "microcosmic" plans for a non-colonialist expansion into space are featured (illustration). How can we survive on Earth in a different way? How can we inhabit the cosmos? She develops alternatives to current Silicon Valley ideas, using shamanistic and spiritual concepts.

Sahej Rahal as a masked shamanic creature equipped with artificial intelligence appear in his video "finalforest.exe". Mixing folklore, urban legends, archaeological records, conspiracies and science fiction, he questions the mythological narrative of Hindu nationalism in the process.

The event takes place via Zoom (online), the log in information will be announced after registration via event@hmkv.de
