On the occasion of the publication of the catalogue of the HMKV exhibition „Awake Are Only The Spirits" - On Ghosts And Their Media in the PHOENIX Halle Dortmund we cordially invite you, on Saturday 11 July, for a free guided tour of the exhibition with the curators and for the catalogue presentation.

On this occasion the catalogue will be available at a reduced price of 15,00 €.
(regular price 20,00 €).

The 192 page catalogue is published by Revolver Publishing by VVV (Berlin) and documents all the exhibited works, some of which have been specifically produced for the exhibition, with short texts, large scale photos of the exhibition in the PHOENIX Halle and additional image material. Three new essays by Verena Kuni, Thibaut de Ruyter and Inke Arns have been written especially for this publication. All the texts are published in German and English.

In her article about media artistic practices Verena Kuni addresses the séance as format and method of art. Thibaut de Ruyter focuses on the specific aesthetic of images and sounds developed in the context of the so-called Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP). Inke Arns deals with the deeply uncanny phenomenon of the separation of the human voice from the body and with noise as precondition for productive deceptions of perception.

The catalogue is published with a sensational silk-screen „glow-in-the-dark“ cover. It stores (day)light and glows promisingly in your bookshelf at night ...
