A Film and Audio Program
Part 2: Ruttmann/Remake
curated by Dieter Daniels (HGB Leipzig)
Duration: ca. 90 min.
In the mid-10920s Walter Ruttmann (1887-1941), German pioneer of "absolute film", leaves abstraction behind and turns towards the city as his new topic. In Berlin he creates a film (1927) and an audio play (1930) - both of them pioneering works in their respective fields. After a long oblivion Ruttmann is recently being re-discovered - amongst others through artistic hommages and remakes.
