"Genossin Sonne“ (Comrade Sun) attracts over 20,000 visitors

With the exhibition Genossin Sonne (Comrade Sun), the HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein set another visitor record: over 20,000 visitors attended the exhibition, which ended on 18 January 2026. The essayistic group exhibition had been on display on levels 3 and 6 of the Dortmunder U since September 2025 and was dedicated to artistic works and theories that linked the sun in particular to social and political movements. The show was curated by Dr Inke Arns (Director of HMKV) and Andrea Popelka and was previously on display at the Kunsthalle Wien as part of the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien.
